When I was in my early teens, I was playing a game of Chinese Checkers with my biological mother and stepfather. They hated to see me win so they would always gang up against me in any game we played.

5 minutes into the game, my stepfather, an avid chess player, noticed what I was doing but it was already too late. I knew that they would play together against me and not every man for themself, so I brought 1 of my pieces to each of their bases so that they could not move their pieces to their home base. They were playing to beat me, so I wouldn't win, but they didn't realize I wasn't playing to win, I was playing so no one would win.

For those wondering, this was prior by a few years to Star Trek Next Generation season 2 episode 21 "Peak Performance" where DATA did the exact same thing in a game called Strategema. Simply put, I do not like being put into a no-win situation, so if I am going to lose, so will everyone else.
