I was able to play professional golf. In 92, I was in a car accident (and shattered my hip). I can't play anymore. Those guys who left the PGA to go to LIV got what they wanted. Don't feel sorry for them; they received life-changing money. But I feel they shouldn't be given an opportunity to play on the PGA Tour again. There are up-and-coming golfers whose pro-golf career is just getting started. That's where the players' union needs to push to promote and keep those guys who resigned out!
Every athlete cares about the money. All the accolades are for the fans.
What a disgraceful ending for some of golf’s greatest players.
LIV golf exposed the PGA's greed in not compensating the players fairly, which was what Mickelson accused them of. Then miraculously the PGA finds money for bigger payouts. The money was there all along. In the PGA's pocket.
It's so sad. Liv was worlds better for everyone, the players and the viewers. Pga just had to many friends with the TV stations and brands.
IRAN war happend.
PGA leadership held strong and worked smart to fend off an existential threat. The Americans have still got “it.“
Didn't watch LIV, won't watch in future. Didn't really care for or disliked most of the golfers who left.
As a family with an estimated NetWorth of $1.4t (and perhaps much more) I can’t say I feel bad for the Saudis.
LIV… "54",… "whatever",…… Greg Norman (like Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer) is one of the "3" Greatest "Men Of Golf"… because they are "MEN OF HONOR",…. "MEN OF HIGH CHARACTER",…. "MAGICAL MEN OF ASTONISHING TALENTS",….. ……. Without "ROLE MODELS" no culture, no society, No Grouping of Human Beings,… will EVER be "remembered", "appreciated", "followed",… or "respected"………..🙂👍
GREG NORMAN is a LEGENDARY FLEECER 🤪
Among the golf watching public – 1) Who cares about artificially constructed teams with silly names? 2) Who can tolerate ghastly music blaring across the course? 3) Who could find a channel to watch it on reliably? 4) Who thought the players deserved those obscene amounts of money?
Greg and Phil knew it was going to be impossible to challenge the PGA to get enough viewers to get off the ground. They virtually robbed the Saudi’s out of BILLIONS. If I were them, I’d go after those players to get most of their money back. The Saudi’s got treated like suckers in this LIV scheme.
I did not watch any LIV golf, simply because I didn't know who was broadcasting it. Which channel? Free to air? Foxtel- no, because I watch sport there. So they all believed the Shark. He had failed to steal the game before and he had another go? And an even bigger crash now. I feel sorry for the younger blokes, but WOW! What a bloody mess.
PGA tour spent big money on negative public relations on LIV golf tour, even before first game was played they went all out and they spent big money buying DP tour . PGA tour has big problem – no one is watching other then 4 Major's an players championship…when Harry Higgs is most interesting player ,you know it's in trouble. Big push with the young boring players is not going fix the product.
There’s no such thing as “unlimited fund” in business.
The entire venture was started and funded, so the saudis could curry favor with donald trump.
They knew trump loved golfing, and they also knew that the pga tour had kicked him out and banned all of his courses from hosting tournaments, which created a window of opportunity.
$Five billion is about one hours production from the saudi oil fields, nothing 💁♂️
You'll notice when the saudis pulled the funding.
When the middle east broke into a huge war because Trump started carrying Israel's water
I quit watching any golf – what a bunch of over paid golf elites and too many global, rich turds.
As a lifelong player of the game, when I watched LIV for the first time, I couldn't help but be confused as to the scoreboard and what this was all about. I understand golf should grow, but was this the way to do it? We all know now, it wasn't. Also, I know the PGA has its faults, as all of us do, but LIV golf came right out of the gate in a "caged animal" type of way, with all that combative rhetoric against the PGA that turned a lot of us off very early on.
The demise of LIV comes down to 4 things and they are call MAJORS, without them the PGA and others were reduced to the minor league, if nothing else, like it or not ,the game is and will be a better product because of LIV.
I simply think when it's only about the money it will not last. I respect that talent and hard work should be rewarded but when huge checks are written just to pull players from an exiting league it's bad news. LIV should have just built the league with young hungry talent.
Apparently you and other few.
I'd rather watch LIV than the PGA any day!
I watched every LIV event and found them, particularly the original 54 hole tournaments, to be more interesting and better presented than the PGATour events. The quality of the golf was at least as good if not better than the PGATour. Aside from blaring music, every other idea had merit. I will watch 2.0 should it come to pass, especially if Bryson is there as he is the most "watchable" golfer since Tiger.
